Data management comprises all aspects of data discovery, collection, preparation, cleaning, manipulation, and storage. With the widespread use of data, the field of data management has grown in breadth with many new challenges that demand new techniques and solutions. This course delves into some of the advanced problems and new challenges in data management. The course covers topics such as data preparation, data quality and cleaning, ETL and data warehousing, and data privacy and privacy preserving data analysis. The course consists of lectures and seminar classes. In seminar classes, students will present seminal articles in the field of data management, research papers about the recent advances in the field, and tutorials about popular tools.
