Assignment 1 of CS2209

Date Due: midnight of 9/23, 2011 (EST)
Completion of the assignment must be an individual effort.
This assignment is worth 5% towards your final mark.

You need to complete five sets of LogiCola exercises: C-ET, C-HT, D-UH, D-FM, and D-AM (1% each). You need to read Section 3.8 from the textbook for some questions in C-HT. For each set that you complete, Set your Scoring Level to 9.

Note: When you first start LogiCola, you must use your real name. You load your exercise sets from File of LogiCola menu. You change your Scoring Level with Options. Whenever you complete a set of exercises in LogiCola, a score file, named score.lc, will be updated and saved. It records all exercises you have completed (incomplete ones will not be recorded) up to now. An exercise set can be tried several times with different Scoring Levels, but only the highest level is recorded. You can practice with a lower Scoring Level, and with Easier or Middle hardness selection.

The score file is encrypted and you should never attempt to modify it yourself (if you did, the assignment will be worth 0%).

How to Submit:
Send one email from your UWO email account (xyz@uwo.ca), with the subject: Your last name, your first name, with attachments of the file score.lc, and the written part (in Word, text, pdf) if any, to cs2209.uwo@gmail.com. Your email must be sent from your uwo account (not yahoo, gmail, etc.). You should keep the submitted assignment in your sent-box (or cc it to yourself) as a proof that you have sent it. If you submit your assignment after the deadline, the late penalty would apply (see course outline).

If you have any question regarding this assignment and LogiCola, please contact TA, Mr. Da Kuang, at dkuang@csd.uwo.ca .

Notes from TA about how to find and copy the score file:

There are two ways to store the score file. If you have a USB disk and want to do the whole assignment on different machines, you'd better choose the option "Install on my USB flash drive" when you run the setup.exe. If you will finish the whole assignment on a particular PC, you should select the option "Install on my computer". In both cases, after you finish the assignment, you can easily find the score file by going to Tools (in menu), View Scores, and Find File.

However, in case that you finish part of one assignment on a PC (named A) and want to resume it on another PC B, how would you move the score file? You need to use a USB disk or email or whatever way to copy the score file from A to B. On PC B, you can use the same method for finding the score file (described in the previous paragraph) to find the folder that the score file should be kept, and copy the score file from A to this folder on B. After you finish the rest of the assignment, your new score will be appended onto this score file. This is the final score file to be submitted.
