Briefly About Computer Vision
In general, Computer Vision is about simulating certain
standard functions of a human visual system on a computer.
Humans take for granted things like stereo vision,
segmentation and recognition of objects, detection and
interpretation of motion, etc. Simple though these tasks may sound,
it is very hard to "teach" the computer to analyze visual information.
The problems in Computer Vision are often ill-posed and ambiguous.
Usually the main difficulty is to formulate a theoretically solid
model. Computational tractability of the model is crucial.
Note that even relatively small images have thousands of pixels.
