Health Services
Graduate students and postdoctoral scholars can access a number of health services here at Western, ranging from basic health to specialized care.
Student Health Services
Student Health Services provides medical and counseling services by a team of doctors year-round. Doctors at Student Health Services work in the same capacity as your family doctor and can order x-rays and blood tests, and make referrals to specialists and physiotherapists.
Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic
From elite athletes like Eric Lindros and Steve Yzerman, to Western students and community members, the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic helps people in the pursuit of good health and fitness. With orthopedic surgeons, athletic and massage therapists, physiotherapists and sport medicine physicians, the Fowler Kennedy Clinic uses state-of-the- art diagnostic rehabilitation equipment to develop personalized rehabilitation plans for 80,000 patients a year.
Chiropractic Care
The Chiropractic Clinic, located in the lower level of the University Community Centre, provides easy access to specialized chiropractic care.
University Pharmacy
The University Pharmacy accepts all drug plans, including SOGS. The dispensing fee is $7 for all faculty, staff and student health plans. Students may order prescriptions online and have them delivered for free the same day within London, or the next day anywhere in Ontario. The University Pharmacy is also a variety store offering several products commonly found in local drug stores.
Student Development Centre - Psychological Services
Psychological Services provides professional, confidential psychological services free of charge to all Western students. Students may attend individual counselling sessions and group workshops for a wide range of concerns. Same day crisis appointments are also available.
Student Emergency Response Team (SERT)
The Student Emergency Response Team (SERT) provides emergency care and responds to all medical emergencies on Main, Huron and Brescia campuses. These volunteers respond in co-ed teams of three, with an average response time of two minutes. Available 24 hours a day and seven days a week, they can be reached by dialing 911 from any campus phone. SERT also offers a variety of Red Cross-certified First Aid courses for individuals and groups.
Dental Clinics
From orthodontics to comprehensive adult care, upper-year students and faculty members at Schulich Medicine & Dentistry work together in the clinics to diagnose and treat patients. Services include complete and partial dentures, crowns and fixed bridges, treatment of gum disease and mouth infections, extractions, endodontics (root canal treatment) and preventive care. In addition to the main adult clinic, Schulich houses specialized clinics in orthodontics, children's care, emergency care, oral radiology, oral surgery and endodontics.
Wellness Education Centre (WEC)
The WEC provides support to students in all aspects of wellness, such as mental, physical, academic and career, environmental, financial, and social. Students may find resources to wellness events, individual counselling, and crisis support. The WEC is a resource ran by Student Experience.
